Chabura Spotlight: Avraham Gellman

Avraham Gellman is currently enjoying his third summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended TABC and Sha’alvim and is planning on attending YU next year. This is Avraham’s first year as a Madrich.

Avraham’s chabura consists of 4 of the best guys around: Rafi Cornick from East Brunswick (TABC), Yaakov Goldenberg from Bergenfield (Heichal HaTorah), Zachary Gibber from Teaneck (TABC), and Tzvi Goldschmidt from Passaic (Heichal HaTorah).

This summer, Avraham’s chabura will be focusing on interesting Topics in Shabbos. They will be learning about a variety of topics including why we light neiros Shabbos when we have electric light, what deal is with shlissel challah, the issues with playing ball on Shabbos, and much, much more. The goal of the learning is to know hilchos Shabbos, but more importantly, to instill a passion for Torah and to make connections that will last a lifetime.

The summer has been great so far and it should only get better from here!

Chabura Spotlight: Joey Mogilner

Joey Mogilner is currently enjoying his second summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended SAR High School and Yeshivat Torat Shraga and is about to start his final year at YU. This is Joey’s first year as a Madrich.

Joey’s chabura is made up of 4 of the best guys around: Dovid Wurzel from Passaic (Heichal Hatorah), Aryeh Sabo from Bergenfield (MTA), Gavi Wagner from Teaneck (MTA), and Yehuda Rabinowich from Passaic (Heichal Hatorah)

This summer, Joey’s chabura will be focusing on Inyanei Shabbos. They will be learning about a variety of topics including what makes shabbos different than any other mitzvah, why on shabbos are we commanded to engage in more physical pleasures than the rest of the week, despite it being a day of holiness, as well as understanding the tefilos and zemiros of shabbos, and much, much more. The goal of the learning is to better understand and relate to perhaps the most time-consuming and foundational mitzvah that we are commanded to observe.

The summer has been great so far and it should only get better from here!

Chabura Spotlight: Josh Appel

Josh Appel is currently enjoying his first summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended MTA and Hakotel and is currently in his second year of YU. This is Josh’s first year as a Madrich.

Josh’s chabura is made up of 5 of the best guys around: Dovi Goldberg from Passaic (MTA), Judah Hain from Riverdale (SAR), Gavriel Barber from Teaneck (MTA), Shmuel Bender from Brooklyn (SAR), and Menachem Kramer from Ramat Beit Shemesh (Ahavat Yisrael).

This summer, Josh’s chabura will be focusing on sugyos in Orach Chaim. They will be learning about a variety of topics including Birchas HaTorah, Krias Shema, Kiddush, Havdallah and much, much more. The goal of the learning is to show that there is more to Torah than simply the words on the page but instead a larger framework of religious concepts and principles which determine how we should live life daily.

The summer has been great so far and it should only get better from here!

Chabura Spotlight: Aharon Weiden

Aharon Weiden is currently enjoying his second summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended TABC and Mevaseret and is planning on attending Senter’s next year for Shana Gimmel. This is Aharon’s first year as a Madrich.

Aharon’s chabura is made up of 5 of the most geshmak guys around: Yochi Berger from Cedarhurst (MAY), Aharon Cohen from Brooklyn (MAY), Eitan Levi from Fort Lauderdale (Yeshiva of Miami), Evan Azeroual from Los Angeles (YULA), and Yitzi Aidelson from Woodmere (MAY).

This summer, Aharon’s chabura will be focusing on growing to become the best version of ourselves through learning Mesilas Yesharim together as well as learning and discussing different halachic questions that arise in our day to day lives. They will be learning about a variety of topics including must you pay for someone’s glasses which you broke accidentally, are you liable for damaging a trespasser, how to use the Ramchal’s guide to become the best Yid possible and much, much more. The goal of the learning is to be more knowledgeable in different halachic topics as well growing as an individual religiously.

The summer has been amazing so far and it should only get better from here!

Chabura Spotlight: Avi Eisenstadter

Avi Eisenstadter is currently enjoying his first summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended TABC and Netiv Aryeh and is currently in his first year of YU. This is Avi’s first year as a Madrich.

Avi’s chabura is made up of 6 of the best guys around: Shua Schloss from Bergenfield (TABC), Yonah Luber from Teaneck (TABC), Nissim Zahts from Chicago (FYHS), Zach Pearl from Chicago (FYHS), Yoni Pomerantz from Lawrence (DRS), and Dovie Hirsch from West Hempstead (DRS).

This summer, Avi’s chabura will be focusing on inyanim related to the mouth/speech.

They will be learning about a variety of topics including Lashon Harah, Tefilah, Brachos and much, much more. The goal of the learning is to explore different topics related to the mouth in order to realize the power of one’s speech.

The summer has been great so far and it should only get better from here!

Chabura Spotlight: Yitzy Lanner

Yitzy Lanner is currently enjoying his third summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended KYHS and Sha’alvim and is planning on attending YU next year. This is Yitzy’s first year as a Madrich.
Yitzy’s Chabura is made up of 5 of the most unreal guys on Kollel: Gavi Kahn from Hollywood, Florida (KYHS); Ezra Landa from Bergenfield, New Jersey (MTA); Sammy Lurie from Miami, Florida (HASG); Avichai Shekhter from Hollywood, Florida (KYHS), and Yehuda Teitelman from Bergenfield, New Jersey (MTA).
This summer, Yitzy’s chabura will be focusing on Shas Sugyas. They will be learning about a variety of topics including אונאת דברים, אדם מועד לעולם, זריזים מקדימין למצות and much, much more. The goal of the learning is for everyone to enjoy the learning and develop a deeper connection to Torah.

Chabura Spotlight: Sammy Volodarsky

Sammy Volodarsky is currently enjoying his first summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended Frisch as well as Yeshivat Torat Shraga, and is currently planning on attending YU next year. This is Sammy’s first year as a Madrich.

Sammy’s Chabura is made up of five of the best guys: Harrison Schwartz from the Five Towns (HAFTR); Ethan Bernstein from the Five Towns (Hewlett High School); Zack Ressler from White Plains, NY (Frisch); David Slomianski from Miami (Hebrew Academy of Miami); Yoni Pollack from Cleveland (Chofetz Chaim of Cleveland).

This summer, Sammy’s chabura will be focusing on different middos. They will be learning about a variety of topics including Sinas Chinam, Machlokes, Anger and much, much more. The goal of the learning is to try and perfect our character and become the best Bnei Torah possible!

The chabura has been off to an amazing start, with even more incredible things to come!

Chabura Spotlight: Efrayim Saks

Efrayim Saks is currently enjoying his third summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended TABC and Yeshivat HaKotel and is currently entering his junior year in YU. This is Efrayim’s first year as a Madrich.

Efrayim’s Chabura is made up of 5 of the most amazing guys on the program: Noam Kornwasser from Teaneck (MTA); Avi Rothberg from Teaneck (MTA); Ophir Rauzman from Teaneck (TABC); Michael Rosner from Beit Shemesh (Chorev); and Shai Warso from Skokie (Skokie Yeshiva).

This summer, Efrayim’s chabura will be focusing on using Ishay Ribo songs to learn about different topics. They will be learning about a variety of topics including procrastination and much, more.

The goal of the learning is to appreciate the relevance and beauty of Torah, and the chabura cannot wait to continue the best summer ever!

Chabura Spotlight: Moshe Fogelman

Moshe Fogelman is currently enjoying his second summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended Heichal HaTorah followed by Shaalvim and the famous Mir Yeshiva in Yerushalayim. Moshe plans on attending YU next year, and this is his first year as a Madrich.

Moshe’s Chabura is made up of six of the best guys around: Yaakov Tabacznik from Teaneck (MTA); Avi Cohn from Teaneck (MTA); Max Zurkovsky from Teaneck (TABC); Aaron Pavel from Fairlawn (TABC); Yosef “Joe” Warburg from Bergenfield (MTA); and Koby Gryfe from the Upper West Side (Ohavei Torah).

This summer, Moshe’s Chaburah will focus on using interactive challenges to build their Jewish skills and Middos. To build their skills, they will be engaging in a Shul Rabbi Scenario where each guy will be tasked with a Shul Scenario, such as a Bar Mitzvah or Bris, and will proceed to put on a tallis and give a Shabbos Drasha and proper Mazel Tov to the Baal Simcha. To build their middos, they will be taking the Enneagram test, which many believe is based on Kabbalah. This test will help them determine areas of middos they can try to work on this Summer. This is all aside from Moshe’s Night Seder shiur, which most of the Chaburah attends as well. The shiur will learn about a living Gadol throughout the week and then meet the Gadol in Yerushalayim on Friday.

The summer has been amazing so far, and will hopefully only continue to get better!

Chabura Spotlight: Yisroel Lebowitz

Yisroel Lebowitz is currently enjoying his second summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended DRS and Sha’alvim and planning on attending YU next year. This is Yisroel’s first year as a Madrich.

Yisroel’s Chabura is made up of 6 of the best guys around: Yechiel Weisstuch from Boca Florida (KYHS); Naftali Kieffer from Boca Florida (KYHS); Shuey Silkin from Boca Florida (KYHS); Baer Boczko from Woodmere (DRS); Shaya Singer from Lawrence (DRS); and Zev Epstein from Cherry Hill (Mesivta High School of Greater Philadelphia).

This summer, Yisroel’s chaburah will be focusing on Talmud Torah and Tefilla. They will be learning about a variety of topics including Torah Lishma, Learning when other mitzvos come up, Davening from a smartphone, and much, much more. The goal of the chabura is to learn Torah in a fun chilled out enjoyable way and to learn to love learning.
