Chabura Spotlight: Jonathan Mehlman

Jonathan Mehlman is currently enjoying his second summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended DRS and Netiv and is currently a Junior in YU. This is Jonathan’s first year as a Madrich.

 

Jonathan’s chabura includes some of the best guys around: Dovid Davies from North Woodmere (MAY), Judah Aghbashoff from Woodmere (MAY), Dani Greenberg from Bergenfield (MTA), Avi Summers from Bergenfield (MTA), and Shuky Shafran from Cedarhurst (DRS).

 

This summer, Jonathan’s chabura will be focusing on the World of Brachos. They will be learning about a variety of topics including the Power of our Words, the Chashivus of Brachos and the Proper Kavanah one should have when making Brachos, ענייני ברכות, and much, much more. The goal of the learning is to gain a special appreciation towards Yiddishkeit through conversations and discussions based on the theme and topics of the Chaburah. Most importantly we want to be able to come out of this summer gaining new relationships that will IYH last for a long time to come.

 

All of this has combined for what continues to be an incredible summer!

 

Chabura Spotlight: Binny Freundlich

Binny Freundlich is currently enjoying his second summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended Hebrew Academy of Montreal and Sha’alvim and planning on attending YU next year. This is Binny’s first year as a Madrich.

 

Binny’s chabura includes some of the best guys around: Chuck Halpern from Philadelphia (Kohelet), Yisrael Weinberger from Philadelphia (Mesivta), Dovid Weintraub from Philadelphia (Mesivta), Dov Rosen from the Five Towns (MAY), Ari Richman from the Five Towns (MAY), and Netanel Hematian from Great Neck (MAY).

 

This summer, Binny’s chabura will be focusing on the details of the עשרת הדברות. They will be learning about a variety of topics including Lo tisa and the power of speech, Kibbud Av v’eim and learning how to be grateful, and much, much more. The goal of the learning is to learn some Torah while learning how to be a mensch.

 

All of this has combined for what continues to be an incredible summer!

Jonathan Haberman is currently enjoying his first summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended TABC and Sha’alvim and is Columbia next year. This is Jonathan’s first year as a Madrich.

Jonathan’s chabura includes some of the best guys around: Akiva Hess from Lindon, NJ (JEC), Zevi Klein from Highland Park (JEC), Akiva Warburg from Teaneck (MTA), Doni Wolk from Bergenfield (MTA), and Uziel Marmelstien from West Hollywood, California (Shalhevet).

This summer, Jonathan’s chabura will be focusing on Fundamental Topics in Avodas Hashem. They will be learning about a variety of topics including the significance of Talmud Torah, the Balance of hishtadus and Emunah, the halachos and importance of not speaking lashon hara, and much, much more. The goal of the learning is to grow in our Avodas Hashem.

Chabura Spotlight: Coby Melkin

Coby Melkin is currently enjoying his first summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended Berman Hebrew Academy and Hakotel and is planning on UPenn next year. This is Coby’s first year as a Madrich.

 

Coby’s chabura includes some of the best guys around: Jacob Freedman from Boca (Katz Yeshiva High School), Avi Girnun from Hollywood (Katz Yeshiva High School), Noah Cooper from Cleveland

(Fuchs Mizrachi), Daniel Sternberg from Sharon, Massachusetts (Maimo), and Gavi Weisman from Providence (Maimo).

 

This summer, Coby’s chabura will be focusing on Machshava. They will be learning about a variety of topics including Why do we learn Torah? What is Tefillah? Where is Hashem? and much, much more. The goal of the learning is to deepen our relationships with ourselves, others, and Hashem.

 

All of this has combined for what continues to be an incredible summer!

 

Chabura Spotlight: Eli Rifkind

Eli Rifkind is currently enjoying his first summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended TABC and Gush and is planning on attending Gush for Shana Gimmel next year. This is Eli’s first year as a Madrich.

 

Eli’s chabura includes some of the best guys around: Yossi Bruck from Brooklyn (MAY), Ariel Kryzman from Teaneck (TABC), Ari Meyer from Woodmere (MAY), Avi Rosenberg from Teaneck (TABC), Yossi Sherman from Riverdale (TABC), and Yechiel Warren from Houston (MTI).

 

This summer, Eli’s chabura will be focusing on examining different mitzvos and topics that are central to our religious lives. They will be learning about a variety of topics including the kedusha of Shabbos and Yom Tov, the value of learning Torah, the essence of Tefillah and much, much more. The goal of the learning is to gain a deeper understanding of, apprecition for, and connection to the performance of these mitzvos.

Chabura Spotlight: Eitan Pfeiffer

Eitan Pfeiffer is currently enjoying his second summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended MTA and Sha’alvim and is planning on attending YU next year. This is Eitan’s first year as a Madrich.

Eitan’s chabura includes some of the best guys around: Dovid Uretsky from Teaneck (MTA), Sam Richman from Teaneck (MTA), Avi Fessel from Teaneck (MTA), Mordechai Ostreicher from the Five Towns (DRS), and Ezra Dubin from the Five Towns (DRS).

This summer, Eitan’s chabura will be focusing on the different mitzvos that a father has to perform on/for his son and will transition towards the end of the summer towards the mitzvos that a son must do for his parents. They will be learning about a variety of topics including Happiness in learning, the מצוה of תפילה, maintaining inspiration, ציצית, if it’s more important to learn or teach others, and much, much more. The goal of the learning is to gain an appreciation and to understand the power of the important things we do every day. Through doing this, it can enhance our performance and become better עובדי ה׳ together as a chabura.

Chabura Spotlight: Akiva Erlbaum

Akiva Erlbaum is currently enjoying his third summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended Mesivta High School of Greater Philadelphia and Hakotel and is planning on attending YU next year. This is Akiva’s first year as a Madrich.

 

Akiva’s chabura includes some of the best guys around: Dovid Wogan from Memphis (Cooper), Eliezer Loeb from Chicago (Skokie), Avi Baruchov from Cedarhurst (DRS), Elie Schlossberg from Lawrence (DRS), and Dovid Bitton from Chicago (Skokie).

 

This summer, Akiva’s chabura will be focusing on opening our eyes and recognizing that every aspect of our lives revolves around Hashem and every question that nags at us is rooted in his Torah, as long as we are willing to take the necessary steps to search for them. They will be learning about a variety of popular Shas Sugyas ranging from: Osek B’Mitzva Patur Min Hamitzva to Mitzvos Tzrichos Kavana as well as a wide range of intriguing and relevant Halachic, Hashkafic and Mussar topics such as: Moving down seats at a sports stadium or Making a Rebbe for oneself, and much, much more. The main objective of this summer’s chabura learning and chabura interaction as a whole boils down to building up confidence and planting a seed in the head of each NCSYer which will enable them to envision their futures as leaders of Klal Yisroel and people who take their Yiddishkeit seriously, regardless of the life path that they find themselves on.

Chabura Spotlight: Tzvi Wechsler

Tzvi Wechsler is currently enjoying his first summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended Fasman Yeshiva High School and Sha’alvim and is planning on attending Shana Gimmel at Merkaz HaTorah next year. This is Tzvi’s first year as a Madrich.

Tzvi’s chabura includes some of the best guys around: Daniel Cohen from Far Rockaway (MAY), Daniel Kahn from Lawrence (YFR), Shmuel Huberfeld from Lawrence (YFR), Akiva Frei from Woodmere (Netzach Hatorah), Shua Schuchman from Baltimore(TA of Baltimore), and Jonah Wahrsager from Riverdale (Netzach Hatorah).

This summer, Tzvi’s chabura will be focusing on Pirkei Avos with sugyas. They will be learning about a variety of topics including: if first mishna says that one must establish many talmidim, so now how can one throw a kid out of yeshiva? The second mishna says the world stands on 3 things, within 2 of them it is permissible for one to lie, so in all when is it permissible for one to lie?, and much, much more. The goal of the learning is growing a connection and a love for talmud torah, and making a kesher with a group of guys hopefully אם ירצה השם for life.

Chabura Spotlight: Noam Mayerfeld

Noam Mayerfeld is currently enjoying his second summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended MTA and KBY and is planning on attending YU next year. This is Noam’s first year as a Madrich.

 

Noam’s chabura is made up of some of the best guys around: Shimmy Boshnack from Brooklyn (MAY), Zach Hawk from Woodmere (MAY), Yitzi Shpelfogel from Manhattan Beach (MAY), Yitzy Loew from Highland Park (JEC), Sam Miodownik from Highland Park (JEC), and Ezra Wiener from Memphis (Margolin Hebrew Academy).

 

This summer, Noam’s chabura will be focusing on the study of different mitzvos, to have a clearer understanding of what we are actually doing and why. They will be learning about a variety of topics including tefillin, mezuzah, sukkah, shmittah, Kiddush, havdala, tefillah, brachos, and much, much more. The goal of the learning is walk out with the sense that there is so much behind living a life of mitzvos and so much purpose and value within each one, as well as have the ability to look into different mitzvos that interest us, on our own.

Chabura Spotlight: Baruch Berger

Baruch Berger is currently enjoying his third summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended DRS and is planning on attending Yeshivat Har Etzion this fall for the third straight year. This is Baruch’s first year as a Madrich.

 

Baruch’s chabura is made up of some of the best guys around: Michayel Cornick from East Brunswick (JEC), Freddie Grunsfeld from Brooklyn (DRS), Raymond Tawil from Queens (DRS), Gavi Tropper from Scarsdale (SAR), and Benny Neuwirth from New Rochelle (SAR).

 

This summer, Baruch’s chabura will be focusing on topics of Kedusha. They will be learning about a variety of topics including Kedushat Ha’aretz, Kedushat Hazman, Kedushat Hamelech, and much, much more. The goal of the learning is to do the Lord’s will.

 

The summer has been great so far and it should only get better from here!
