Chabura Spotlight: Eli Fishbein

NCSY Kollel August 6, 2023

Eli Fishbein is attending NCSY Kollel for the very first time. Eli attended Kushner for high school followed by two years at Reishit and is beginning YU in the fall.

Joining Eli in the Chabura are four amazing and unique NCSYers. Akiva Parver, from New Milford, NJ, our Face-Off champion, constantly brings a heimish lens to what we are learning and speaking about as well as a great niggun to recommend to the chevra. He is very bright and invested in whatever it is he is doing and has a bright future ahead of him. Next up we got Momo Greenberg from the Yeshiva in Chicago, IL. Moyms is the glue guy of our Chabura. He is always making great ha’aros about our learning and even greater ones about our hock. On top of creating tremendous unity, Moyms has also taken it upon himself to educate us on the different ways to cook berries. Nathan Grossman, from Boston, MA, our resident Sefardi, made an immediate difference in the chabura’s learning. Nathan excels at asking detailed questions and providing a lot of comedic relief. Last but certainly not least is Ilan Wachstock from Hollis, NY. Ilan brings tremendous enthusiasm to the Chabura. A big jokester, Ilan is always cracking up at something that the Chabura has said. On top of all of that, Ilan is always providing good insight onto whatever sugya we are learning.

The Chabura is focusing on hilchos Brachos Ha’nehenin. Whether it be something from inside our sources or an idea spoken outside, the guys are always enthusiastic about being around each other in a Torah environment. Some of the topic we have covered this summer include “Why are we supposed to say 100 brachos a day” and “why do we make brachos on things that give us benefit.”

The summer has been great for the Chabura so far and we should all only continue to enjoy it and grow!
