Chabura Spotlight: Moshe Tzvi Shapiro

NCSY Kollel August 11, 2023

Moshe Tzvi (MT) Shapiro is originally from Hamilton, Canada, though now he lives in Yerushalayim. He went to Skokie Yeshiva, and then Yeshivat Hakotel/the Golani Brigade for the past 4 years. Next year he’ll be studying in Machon Lev. This is his first summer on NCSY Kollel.

Ezra Shmuel is from Edison, NJ and goes to MTA. Shlomo Golubchik is from Highland Park, NJ and goes to Heichal. Eli Fogel is from Edison, NJ and goes to MTA. Binyamin Neimark is from Highland Park, NJ and goes to Heichal. Jake Levine is from Highland Park, NJ and goes to JEC.

This summer, the Chabura is learning about Tefila. Some of the topics we’re covering are: the goal of davening, its importance, what it means to daven properly and how to prepare for Tefila. They have discussed some of the challenges of tefila, what makes it so hard to daven with kavana, and tips and tools to daven with kavana and tap into the emotions of tefila. They have also talked about the big themes of tefila, and some amazing insights and themes of individual tefilos. Additionally the chabura has learnt some of the halachos of davening and the deeper reasons behind those halachos. As well, every week they hae touched upon a fundamental concept in tefila that comes from the parsha of that week.

The summer’s been awesome so far and we’re sad it’s coming to a close, but we’re looking forward to keep on learning and growing throughout the year!
