Chaburah Spotlight: Moshe Spirgel
Moshe Spirgel is back for his second summer as a madrich on NCSY Kollel. Moshe is from Manhattan, attended SAR High School followed by two years in Reishit, and is currently in YU in the Sy Syms School of Business.
The guys in Robs bura are Yos Kahn (Bergenfield,TABC), Daniel Eckman(Teaneck,TABC), Yaakov Emerson (Bergenfield,MTA), Shlomo Wenger (Bergenfield,TABC), Yosef Benovitz (Ramat Beit Shemesh, Mesivta), and mid summer addition Shua Kopstick (Bergenfield, MTA), all returnees looking for more in their second summer on the kollel.
It’s not only in the chaburah summer rewards points that this chaburah excels, these guys don’t mess around in the beis medrash. You can find them every afternoon in the center of the beis medrash hocking any sugya whether it be the Mitzvah of Talmud Torah, Kavod Harav, or any topic on Shabbos. When learning these sugyas much of the emphasis is placed on asking the right questions, and coming out with a clear picture of the sugya. On shabbos, the chaburah gets to hear a Dvar Torah from one of the guys, followed by Moshe’s Torah bowl which consists of Torah and sports related questions where Shlomo Wenger gets to show off his expertise, going undefeated this summer.
Moshe and the guys have had an amazing summer so far, with even bigger and better things on the horizon as we enter the final stretch of an unbelievable summer.
Chaburah Spotlight: Dani Greenberg
Dani Greenberg is on his 3rd summer of Kollel and… IT. HAS. BEEN. EPIC. Dani is from Bergenfield, went to MTA (lion4life), Shaalavim, and plans to take his talents back to the Heights to YU this year.
His Chaburah is stacked with some of the greatest to ever do it. Noah Mayerfeld (Cleveland/Fuchs Mizrachi), Yehuda Kahn (Cleveland/Fuchs Mizrachi), Chaim Abrams (Dallas/TTI), and Uri Stroock (Dallas/TTI). The mix of Cleveland and Dallas bonded seamlessly. They are known in and out of the Beis for their simcha and energy.
Dani’s Chaburah is focusing on “על שלשה דברים העולם עומד” learning sugyas and machshava on Torah, Teffilah, and Gemilas Chasadim and of course spending some time playing ball, spike ball, and even some Jenga.
The Chaburah looks forward to continuing to have an awesome time while growing together for what has been an incredible summer!
Chaburah Spotlight: Netanel Bixon
Netanel Bixon’s first summer on NCSY Kollel has been nothing short of unforgettable, and his Chaburah has been at the heart of it all. Born and raised in Miami Beach, Florida, Netanel is a proud alum of RASG Hebrew Academy. After spending three years learning in Aish HaTorah’s Gesher program, he is now heading to Ner Yisrael to continue his Torah journey.
Netanel’s Chaburah this summer is a tightly knit group of four, each bringing their own unique spark to the table. Eliyahu Zelinger, from Baltimore and a student at TA, blends good humor with deep and thoughtful contributions that keep discussions both engaging and meaningful. Yehuda Levenbrown, also from Baltimore and at TA, energizes the group with his fun personality and constant positivity. Raphael Marciano, from Baltimore and learning at the Yeshiva of Greater Washington, inspires with his incredible passion and enthusiasm for every topic. Rounding out the group is Morris Harary from Brooklyn, a student at Barkai Yeshiva, whose sharp ideas and genuine yearning for truth push the whole group to think deeper.
This summer, the Chaburah is embarking on a journey through the Torah’s outlook on life, diving into both hashkafic and halachic realms. With fiery debates and thought-provoking questions, each member has the opportunity to explore and express their opinions in a respectful and dynamic setting.
It’s been an amazing summer so far for Netanel’s Chaburah, and with the momentum they’ve built, it’s clear that they’re not just finishing strong, they’re only getting started.
Chaburah Spotlight: Michael Wald
Michael Wald’s Chaburah on Kollel has been incredible, even though it is only his first summer as a Madrich on Kollel (second year as staff). Michael went to Maimonides School from K–12, then Yeshivat Shaalvim for two more years, and is set to attend Yeshiva University, where he is looking to continue to grow in his Avodas Hashem. Even though he came all the way from Boston, Massachusetts, he has still been able to impact the Jewish community through NCSY, his high school, and much more.
No Chaburah can compare to Michael Wald’s. From their everyday Chaburas to their weekly Torah Bowl competitions and everything in between, this Chaburah is truly one of a kind. Ilan Goldsmith, hailing from the depths of Florida and attending Ohr HaTorah, impacts every single day with his incredible and thoughtful comments in every discussion that arises in Chaburah. Eliyahu Polstein, coming all the way from Chicago and a student at Fasman Yeshiva High School “The Yeshiva,” brings his energy every day with everything that comes his way, regardless of the context or topic. Moe Goldstein, from deep inside the Five Towns in Woodmere, NY, and attending Rambam Mesivta, shows off his excellent abilities in understanding everything they learn, while also contributing new ideas that spice up every single Chaburah. Ari Zurndorfer, hailing from West Hempstead, brings his quiet intensity which not only contributes to the atmosphere of the Chaburah but also elevates everyone around him. Together, they make up a dynamic Chaburah that continues to grow and learn every day while also having an incredible time together.
Michael’s Chaburah is focusing on Hilchos Shabbos L’Maaseh. For example, “Is there an issue with training your dog to turn on the TV for you on Shabbos?” In short, they are learning the basics of all the Melachos of Shabbos through modern-day examples. The Chaburah encompasses many aspects from all over Hilchos Shabbos, viewed through the lens of intriguing contemporary shailos. By the end of the summer, they should all have the skills and knowledge to view Shabbos through a halachic lens, impacting their Shabbos for the better.
The summer’s not yet over, and they have plenty more to accomplish and experience together.
Chaburah Spotlight: Tzvi Schreiber
Tzvi Schreiber’s second summer on Kollel (first as a Madrich) has been incredible in large part due to his amazing Chaburah. From Bergenfield, NJ, he attended TABC for high school and then Yeshivat Mevaseret Tzion for two years. He is looking forward to beginning YU next year.
In his Chaburah, Baltimore and Bergenfield have joined forces to create a group like no other. From Baltimore, Maryland and attending TA, Reuven Schmidman contributes in a unique way and always surprises us with a new style kippa every day. Moshe Broder from Springfield, attending Berman, adds his interesting ideas and always keeps the discussions lively. AJ Zuckerman, also from Springfield and attending Berman, offers his insightful opinions and provides a great sense of humor. Finally, Meir Zelkowitz from Bergenfield, NJ, attending Heichal HaTorah, asks thoughtful questions that add immensely to our discussions. Together, everyone adds their own personalities, generating a fun and exciting energy for our Chaburah.
Tzvi’s Chaburah is mainly learning about morning-related topics such as Tefillin, Tzitzis, Netilas Yadayim, and Birchas HaTorah.
So far, the summer has been amazing, and even though it’s almost over, it’s clear that this is not the end but just the beginning.

Ranging from Torah, to Shabbos, to rejecting Avodah Zarah, these mitzvos are of critical importance to how we live. The Chaburah places a strong emphasis on chazarah and the importance of retaining the information learned. Each day they summarize the Chaburah in three organized points which they then type up.
This Chaburah has already learned and grown so much together, and they can’t wait to continue learning throughout the rest of the summer and beyond.

Yis Kaminetzky (one of the six Kamine(tz)ky staff members) is enjoying his fourth unforgettable summer on NCSY Kollel and his second as a Madrich. Yis hails from Teaneck, New Jersey, where he spent four incredible years at TABC, followed by two life-changing years in Shaalavim. He is currently continuing his growth in Torah and Avodah at Yeshiva University.
Yis has the unbelievable privilege of being the Madrich of five all-stars—an elite Chaburah with diverse talents, dynamic personalities, and a deep Torah drive that’s helped them rise to the top of the Chaburah rewards leaderboard.
Leading off from Heichal, Eli Weiderkehr brings a calm focus and serious basketball prowess to the group. Next up is Aryeh Lipschutz, repping Florida and learning in Ohr Torah, who adds infectious enthusiasm to the Beis and is already well known for his impressive siyumim. Out of Baltimore and TA, Akiva Krupp contributes high energy and artistic brilliance, always keeping things lively with his masterpiece-level doodles. Rounding out the chevra is the legendary YULA duo—Yossi Luftglass and Noam Feldman (that is, when Noam manages to keep track of Yossi’s whereabouts). Yossi keeps the crew on track when conversations go off course and is always ready with an answer to any question. Noam, the glue guy of the Chaburah, brings warmth and connection, always engaging whoever sits next to him and making sure no one is left out.
This summer, the Chaburah has focused their learning on sugyos related to the moadim and Shesh Zechiros, exploring how the foundational themes of the Yamim Tovim and Shesh Zechiros can be brought into our daily lives. From Day One, they dove into topics like the value of routine and the deeper purpose behind the moadim, continuing into powerful sugyos like Talmud Torah, dipping the apple in honey, and much more.
This superstar Chaburah has had an inspiring and transformative summer and is excited to finish strong and stay connected for years to come. With a foundation rooted in Torah and a bond that extends far beyond the Beis Medrash, this group is primed to achieve great things together.

Tzvi’s Chaburah this summer features an all-star squad of NCSY’ers from New Jersey and Baltimore. Leading off is Rafi Kaplan (Heichal), always striving to grow and always down for an epic chill. Joining him from Passaic is Ariel Mintz (Heichal), whose thoughtful questions and genuine love of learning elevate every Chaburah. Then comes the Baltimore crew: Judah Milner (YMC), who consistently pushes the group to grow and is always on the ball. Finally, also from Baltimore, Akiva Furman (YMC), the spark and energy of the Chaburah. With two from Heichal and two from YMC, and a strong New Jersey–Baltimore connection, the group has developed a unique chemistry that’s defined their summer together.
This summer, the Chaburah has delved into various sugyas related to Shabbos, exploring topics such as Bigdei Shabbos, Hadlakas Neiros, playing ball on Shabbos, and reading newspapers on Shabbos. Each sugya has been examined in depth, helping the group develop a greater appreciation for the beauty and kedusha of Shabbos. As the summer progresses, the Chaburah continues to grow and they’re excited to finish strong, learning and growing together each day!

Chaburah Spotlight: Zevi Burg
Zevi Burg’s third summer on Kollel, his first as a Madrich, and he is super excited to be back. He is enjoying every minute thanks to his star studded Chaburah which we’ll get to in a hot sec. Zevi is from a tight knit and thriving Jewish community and attended some of the most prestigious modern orthodox schools in the tri state area. Afterward Zevi spent two years in the Ayalon valley which he has just concluded.
Now for the main event. Number 99 from The Yeshiva we have Akiva Kark. Touted as the best ball player in the Chaburah, Akiva still stays relatable when he is engaging in deep Torah wisdom. Next up is the 3x Heichal Rowing State Champion, Chaim Honikman! Whatever energy Chaim brings with his paddle in the river, he is twice as dominant in his keen insights which he shares during Chaburahs. Moving on, we have a Philly legend, straight out of Mesivta Uriel “Eugene” Goldschmidt. Uriel is able to bring his Philly born talents and apply them to Talmud Torah in an inspiring way. A 12x Chicago Weightlifting State Champion, Ezra is able to lift weights, as well as other people with his encouraging words.
The Chaburah is taking on topics of Tzitzis and Kibud Av V’eim this summer. Two topics which apply to the day to day life. The guys are learning why and how to go about these constant and amazing mitzvos.
This Chaburah has been a blast so far and they’re only getting started!
Chaburah Spotlight: Jack Duitz
Jack Duitz’s first summer on NCSY Kollel has been absolutely incredible, largely thanks to the amazing guys in his Chaburah. Born and raised in New Rochelle, NY, Jack just finished his first year at Yeshiva University. He’s been loving everything Kollel has to offer, including serious learning, opportunities to interact with Rabbanim, intense ball games, and fantastic trips.
Jack’s Chaburah is made up of four awesome guys, each bringing something unique to the table. Yisroel Shtern, from Woodmere, NY and attending DRS, is the steady force of the group — mild-mannered, focused, and coming in with a strong background in learning. Tuvya Gross of Philadelphia, PA is going into his junior year at Mesivta High School. He keeps everyone on their toes with his quick wit and contagious energy. Yehoshua Davies from Cherry Hill, NJ is also entering 11th grade at Mesivta. He impresses with his sharp understanding of sources and thoughtful insights to the discussion. Whether they’re learning together in the Beis Medrash or trying to snipe each other on camera from across Ramot Shapira, this group has grown tremendously as a unit over the past several weeks.
This summer, Jack’s Chaburah is diving deep into various sugyas in tefillah. From the halachic depth of kavana b’tefillah to the practical applications of tashlumin b’tefillah, they’re exploring what it truly means to connect to Hashem through davening. Together, they’re working through Gemaras, Rishonim, and Acharonim, and engaging in meaningful discussions to gain a greater understanding and appreciation of tefillah in their daily lives.
With this much energy and heart, it’s clear that this Chaburah’s growth is just getting started.
