Chabura Spotlight: Moshe Maltz
Moshe Maltz is currently enjoying his second summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended DRS and Sha’alvim and is currently in YU. This is Moshe’s first year as a Madrich.
Moshe’s chabura includes some of the best guys around: Izzy Gober from Riverdale (Heichal Hatorah), Yehuda Rosenbaum from Riverdale (Heichal Hatorah), Yishai Kaufman from Plainview (HANC), David Bousbib from Englewood (TABC), and Avi Popper from Teaneck (TABC).
This summer, Moshe’s chabura will be focusing on Shabbos Topics and its מצוות עשה. They will be learning about a variety of topics including Making Early Shabbos, The Origin of Zemiros at the Shabbos Table, Kavod and Oneg Shabbos on a Practical Level, Why We Cover the Challah, and much, much more. The goal of the learning is to gain a stronger appreciation for the many aspects of Shabbos and avodas Hashem in general.
The summer has been great so far and it should only get better from here!

Moshe Strauss is currently enjoying his third summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended DRS and Yeshivat Sha’alvim and is planning on attending YU next year. This is Moshe’s first year as a Madrich.

This summer, Moshe’s chabura will be focusing on various topics about shabbos. They will be learning about a variety of topics including Preparations for Shabbos, Kiddush, Lechem Mishna, and much, much more. The goal of the learning is to enhance one’s shabbos by learning the different aspects more in depth.

Chabura Spotlight: Justin Carl
Justin Carl is currently enjoying his first summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended the Ida Crown Jewish Academy and Torat Shraga and is currently in YU. This is Justin’s first year as a Madrich.
Justin’s chabura includes some of the best guys around: Yisroel Attali from Detroit (Farber), Binyamin Alter from Teaneck (MTA), Shmuel Littwin from Teaneck (TABC), Jacob Horn from Teaneck (TABC), Shlomo Mittel from Teaneck (TABC), and Elad Zeharya from Los Angeles (YULA).
This summer, Justin’s chabura will be focusing on How to become a better עובד ה׳. They will be learning about a variety of topics including Talmud Torah, Middos, and much, much more. The goal of the learning is to grow as individuals and become closer to ה׳.

Moshe Simon is currently enjoying his sixth summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended DRS and Sha’alvim, and is currently in YU. This is Moshe’s second year as a Madrich.

This summer, Moshe’s chabura will be focusing on Arvei Pesachim and other topics. They will be learning about a variety of topics including the mitzvah of Matza, and much, much more. The goal of the learning is to gain an appreciation and love for learning Torah.

Chabura Spotlight: Yoni Laub
Yoni Laub is currently enjoying his first summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended TABC and HaKotel and will be continuing in YU next year. This is Yoni’s first year as a Madrich.
Yoni’s chabura includes some of the best guys around: Caleb Breda from Teaneck (Frisch), Nate Ram from Baltimore (TA), Eli Staum from Bergenfield (MTA), Pinny Turner from Baltimore (TA), and Michael Wein from Queens (MTA).
This summer, Yoni’s chabura will be focusing on Inaynei Geirus, with a side limmud of gadol of the day and interactive halachik scenarios. They will be learning about a variety of topics including Ger Katan, Modern Day Geirus Standards, and much, much more. The goal of the learning is to grow in our Yiras Shamayim and connection to Torah.

Chabura Spotlight: Yoni Drazin
Yoni Drazin is currently enjoying his second summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended Hebrew Academy of Montreal and HaKotel and is planning on attending YU next year. This is Yoni’s first year as a Madrich.
Yoni’s chabura includes some of the best guys around: Avi Baron from Teaneck, NJ (Heichal Hatorah), Tzvi Dock from Bergenfield, NJ (Heichal Hatorah), Tzvi Englander from White Plains, NY (SAR), Yonatan Friedman from Manhattan, NY (MTA), and Adin Goldman from Lower Merion, PA (Mesivta).
This summer, Yoni’s chabura will be focusing on various sugyas and topics relating to the average high school boys’ life. While delving deep into halachic analysis, they will also be viewing various hashkafic ideas about each concept. They will be learning about a variety of topics including Tzitzis, Brachos Rishonos, playing ball on Shabbos, and much, much more. The general goal is to not only learn the halachos of being a Jew, but to also discuss, converse and ponder the concepts in order to really develop a true connection and understanding of why we might do what we do as Jews.

Jake Greenberg is currently enjoying his first summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended HAFTR and Sha’alvim and is currently in Yeshiva University. This is Jake’s first year as a Madrich.
Jake’s chabura includes some of the best guys around: Shlomo Freundlich from Montreal (Hebrew Academy of Montreal), Elisha Kupperman from Los Angeles (MBY), Yaakov Malk from Los Angeles (YULA), Mordechai Fishof from Los Angeles (MBY), Tal Levy from Montreal (Hebrew Academy of Montreal), and David Abraham from Los Angeles (YULA).
This summer, Jake’s chabura will be focusing on Inyanim of the fourth Perek of Maseches Brachos. They will be learning about a variety of topics, including Zerizin Makdimin L’Mitzvos, Maariv’s status Reshus or Chova, the source of davening, and much, much more. The goal of the learning is to cultivate a greater appreciation for the beauty and fun of Torah learning, while also forming a family with all of the members of the Chaburah.

Asher Schreier is currently enjoying his fifth summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended DRS and Sha’alvim and is currently in Yeshiva University. This is Asher’s first year as a Madrich.

This summer, Asher’s chabura will be focusing on Tefillah Topics. They will be learning about a variety of topics including why do we daven, if tefillah is a mitzva dioraysa or dirabannan, kavana, and much, much more. The goal of the learning is to grow in davening.

Yitzy Kopstick is currently enjoying his third summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended TABC and Sha’alvim and is currently planning on attending Yeshiva University next year. This is Yitzy’s first year as a Madrich.

This summer, Yitzy’s chabura will be focusing on miscellaneous topics. They will be learning about a variety of topics including why we learn Torah, מצוות עתידות לבטיחות, celebrating birthdays in Halacha, and much, much more. The goal of the learning is to develop and create a long lasting love for Talmud Torah.

Chabura Spotlight: Elie Jarashow
Elie Jarashow is currently enjoying his first summer on NCSY Kollel. He attended TABC and Orayta and is planning on attending YU next year. This is Elie’s first year as a Madrich.
Elie’s chabura includes some of the best guys around: Ari Ivry from Cedarhurst (DRS), Ephraim Hermann from Woodmere (DRS), Yehuda Wiener from Teaneck (TABC), Eitan Warum from Monsey (MTA), and Akiva Boyarsky from Teaneck (MTA).
The chabura’s mission statement is אין אדם לומד תורה אלא ממקום שלבו חפץ. One of the main goals together this summer is for each guy in the chabura to find the Torah that is ripe for his soul. Therefore, the topics covered in the chabura aim to touch on all areas within the corpus of Torah -Tanach, Gemara, Machshava, Mussar, Chassidus, and Halacha – with the hope that each guy will find that which speaks to him. Some examples of the topics we are covering are Shnayim Mikra, The Philosophical Underpinnings of Korbanos, The Spiritual Value of Torah Umadda, The Uniqueness of Eretz Yisroel, Divine Providence and Human Suffering, Why We Learn Torah, and Did David Hamelech Really Sin. Further, the Chabura also starts each day with a smaller separate limmud: an introduction to the thought of Rav Soloveitchik, Rav Kook, and Rav Lichtenstein.
The ultimate goal of the chabura is to feel a part of the ongoing conversation of Jewish learning and ideas – both intellectually and existentially – and to appreciate the depth and profundity of the beautiful Mesorah.
Plumbing the depths of thought of these Gedolim has been, and Be’ezras Hashem will continue to be, an incredible experience!
