Summer 2019

August 4th- Three Kings are Crowned

Following the restful out-shabbos, was an extremely exciting day on the Kollel! Starting in the morning where we heard from political scientist Dr. Luchins! The topic was about antisemitism in today’s politcal landscape. Overall, the presentation was definitely entertaining for everyone!

Moving onto the afternoon, there were two amazing mini-tiyul options! Either the opportunity to visit Latrun (tank museum) with a stop at the Modi’in mall; or playing softball at the amazing field in Gezer. Both trips were spectacular and everyone had an amazing time!!

In sports, there were regular leagues, but the main highlight was the highly anticipated 3 on 3 championship! The game was an absolute nail-biter and came down to the wire! Congratulations to Zev Markowitz, David Pantiliat and Shlomo Levenbrown on the win! Also, congratulations to the one-handed Hymans on winning the intermediate tournament!

Today was also the start of a new and exciting initiative! From now until the end of the summer, a history trivia question about NCSY kollel will be asked and chaburahs will have the opportunity to send in answers. The first chaburah to answer correctly will be awarded cakes from none other than… MAKS cakes!!

During the post mincha announcements, Rabbi Benovitz began explaining the importance and seriousness of the upcoming week, as Tisha Baav is quickly approaching. The mood has slightly shifted and many people are beginning to learn more about the current time period and prepare accordingly. Throughout the week, more will be discussed.

The first Night Seder of the week started off very strong as everyone was eager to continue their learning with staff chavrusas and hearing shuirim from different Rebbeim. After maariv, there was a special guest speaker! Rav Etshalom gave a well-attended Tanach shuir! Hopefully the strong atmosphere and overall attitude will continue throughout the week!!
